Google designed ChromeOS exclusively for hardware they certify (Chromebooks, Chromeboxes). Unlike Windows, it relies on specific firmware (coreboot), security chips (TPM), and auto-updating partitions. A standard ISO wouldn’t work on most laptops due to driver, boot, and update issues.

Official ChromeOS Flex does not natively support dual-booting. Installing it will overwrite your entire hard drive. If you want to dual-boot, you must use the third-party Brunch framework or run the OS inside a virtual machine. Why is there no official ISO file?
To fully replace your current OS, select "Install ChromeOS Flex."
An official file does not actually exist because Google does not distribute ChromeOS as a standard ISO image. A standard ISO wouldn’t work on most laptops
In 2022, Google acquired Neverware (makers of CloudReady) and launched – a free, Google-supported operating system designed for existing PCs and Macs.
Upon booting, you will see a "Welcome to ChromeOS Flex" screen. You can choose to "Try it first" to run it directly from the USB without affecting your current hard drive data.
As the table shows, the most significant limitations of ChromeOS Flex are the lack of native Android app support and the absence of the same level of hardware-level security found on Chromebooks.
